This paper presents PLQuiz, an open-source Java tool that automates the generation of Moodle-compatible cloze questions for assessing students’ understanding of lexical analysis algorithms, such as those converting regular expressions into finite automata. By significantly reducing the time and effort required to create complex quizzes and enabling both online and printable assessments, PLQuiz enhances teaching efficiency and supports student learning through unlimited, self-assessable practice opportunities.
